We Thank God For Our Fathers & Grandfathers

Celebrating my second birthday, and my father's 42nd, four days apart

I'm the youngest daughter,

thankful my father was happy to have many children.

Dad and Mom were pleased for me to marry David

My faithful husband has been a great help to them through the years

-replacing their house windows & reroofing their home

We spent two months restoring their nigh 100-year-old rent house when they were out of money and needed the rent income

replaced piers, beams, plumbing, doors & locks, fixtures, outlets, roofing, laid ceramic tile on laundry cement, painted inside and out
-spent 10 days hauling away 50 years of stored up clutter around their property

David's parents were glad their 33 year-old-son was finally getting married.

Freedom Generation

How would you like your 12-21 year old to get an education like Ron Paul?

For one week, Freedom Generation summer camp will contribute to just that.

With classes like One Nation Under God, Economics 101 and the French and American Revolutions Compared, students learn how to impact their future. Speakers and workshops are featured along with great camp activities: swimming, hiking, camp fires, skits and camp volleyball.

I have been a part of this camp for 12 years, first as a camper and now counselor and volunteer speaker. Camp is always encouraging and invigorating.

Five Leadership Traits

Today, I asked Mr. Howard Phillips, Chairman of the Conservative Caucus and former presidential cabinet member, what top five traits a man must possess to be a leader. After a moment of thought, these are the five marks of leadership he communicated to me.

1. You must be ready to die.

Abandon all fear of death and unpopularity.

2. You must find strength in the blessing God brings from humbling difficulties.

The greatest teacher is pain, and God will humble us to teach us. Humiliation spawns character and leadership.
3. Once you have determined what your role will be, then determine to play your part.

You may be whatever you wish to be, so long as you play the part. For example, if you want to be a president, then act like a president. Develop the ability to concentrate on what you can uniquely do and delegate everything else.

4. Always be learning.

As Charlie "Tremendous" Jones used to say, "You are the same today as you will be in a year except for two things: the people you meet and the books you read."

5. Be ever grateful.

If you become bitter, it will destroy you. Also, remember that the Bible instructs that the secret things will be revealed. Don't write anything or say anything that you are unprepared to widely share.

Thoughtful men will naturally seek to protect themselves by investing in land, gold, silver, and other historic hedges against inflation, but the counter-hedges of socialism against self-protection are greater than ever before. And, while survival is important, it is not enough. Socialism is finished: it is destroying itself, and although the worst lies ahead, the certainty of socialism’s collapse is nonetheless inescapable, and it must be a basic premise of all thinking concerning the future. The central concern even now must be reconstruction, the creation of new institutions dedicated to liberty, education to that end, and the assurance that the fresh air of liberty is ahead, past the days of chaos. The wise, therefore, will recognize that the breakdown of money, socialist money, is overtaking us, and that there is no security in counterfeit currency. Before they sit weeping, like the Chinese of Shanghai, surrounded with their worthless money, they had better dedicate themselves and their wealth to the cause of liberty before it is too late. As Sennholz has pointed out, our managed money today is the poorest form of investment for the future. In the long run, an investment in liberty offers better returns.

Faith For All of Life "Wisdom the Principal Thing"

Mom often reminds us of what God told His people in captivity: “Build houses, and dwell in them; plant gardens, and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.” Jeremiah 29:5-7

God wants His people to choose life even in the grief of captivity - He wants us to live thinking of the future.

Planning for disaster or inflation usually focuses on survival materials and precious metals but is dominated what Dad calls a culture of single men. (We tease him about this, since he was single till age 33). But Dad’s point is that it is transient, self centered and a dead end to plan and turn away from God’s blessings.

We must plan for difficult times as God brings judgment on our nation. But our plans must include the building for the future and the precious gift of children -- even in captivity.

Who Gets the Land?

So the meek shall inherit the earth! Jesus said it in Matt. 5:5 "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Now since we want to be meek so badly and we need role models guess who God gave us? "Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all men that were on the face of the earth." That is exciting! It is unfulfilled prophesy. Lord help us be meek.

Friends have served at this poll for years. This time Joyce invited us. We stayed over for a fun night with her before heading to the poll at 6am.

As I started the van, Joyce offered to spot for me backing out. Oh no, everything looked clear, I would be fine. THUMP! I hit a small tree on the passenger side back end, leaving a knick in both van and tree.

Viktor Campbell Helps Get Forklift Out of Mud

Dinah: Saturday afternoon I went looking for Jodavid to see if he was sweeping the back patio. “Jodavid where are you?” I called. I heard a groan and some indefinable words. I walked over to where Melody and I had planted some summer squash, and there before my eyes was a perfect disaster. The back of the forklift was lower than the front stuck deeply in the mud. I realized I had left the water running too long on those squash plants.

“Jodavid where are you?” I called, not understanding why he was not showing himself.

I heard another “Boo woo woo.”

“Are you okay? I asked.

I found a desperate boy with bee box lids all around the tires.

“Why are you not sweeping the patio?”

“Well…I…a … How am I going to get it out of the mud?” He said.

“I guess we will have to wait till the ground dries out or till dad gets home. You should have been obeying, then you would not have gotten into this trouble.”

Jodavid picked up the broom and started to sweep.

Sunday, our Pastor’s ten-year-old son, Viktor, came home with us.

Viktor knew just how to get it out, because his grandpa does a lot of work on a backhoe and commonly gets stuck. There is a blessing living close to grandparents!

Luke came on his way back from Ridgecrest where he preaches every other week. Sometimes he does the Sunday school lesson at Kaweah where we fellowship. It is so wonderful to see young men like Luke who are going after understanding what is right, and what God desires. He continues to be an inspiration to us as a brother in Christ for the Kingdom of Jesus.

We have been greatly blessed by seeing the Multi-generational legacy of the Campbell family.

Jodavid: Yesterday we brought Viktor Campbell home from church with us. Jodavid and Viktor jumped on the trampoline.

After jumping, I told Viktor “Our forklift has three wheels stuck deep in the mud. We need your help to pull it out.”

First we dug the rut with shovels.

Victor [Seppi] pulled the forklift out in no time with the powerful tractor.

Thank God, it was not quick sand! We would have to say, “Good-bye forklift. We’ll never see you again.”
