We leave over 90% of the honey which the bees produce for them as well as feed them corn syrup also pollen patties with pollen, brewers yeast and assorted ingredients because there are no flowers or pollen in the winter. Wild bees such as Africanized migrate from place to place till they find nectar. Our honey bees are a mild Italian breed and if not fed October through January would naturally die. We need them for almond pollination in February. The colony collapse disorder (CCD) could be a foreign virus. Some say old comb, ants, pesticides...If the queen is replaced every year with an excellent well bred queen, the hives pull through the winter just fine. Dad and Lance believe CCD is blown out of proportion and guys are just not giving bees all the attention they need. We don't know what causes it, but we know a lot of factors that might, and when we do everything we know to do right, the bees come out ok. ~ Dinah

Happy 14^th Birthday Melody!

She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. Proverbs 31:17

This is a verse I remind you of when we are exercising, but it is a lot more than that. Strengthening you arms means preparing to do the battles that lie ahead better than if you had not prepared. It means practicing your music, so you can bring music to your children, strengthening your arms can be helping Mom with accounting or transcribing notes for Dad. It can be faithfully doing your school work to exercise your mind. It can also be working out to make your body strong, so you will be prepared to be a mother who is able to take the fatigues of life without giving in because Lord willing, your body is the cradle of a generation to come.

"America's Greatest Threat"

Every time violence erupts somewhere in the world, our national leaders and news media make it sound like that particular outbreak is America's greatest threat. The conflict between Russia and Georgia is no exception. Almost as soon as news of the conflict broke, the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain, was suggesting that the United States (or the United Nations) should send troops to the scene. I guess two wars are not enough for McCain; he now wants to start a third. (And with all his talk about bombing Iran, make that four.) And talk all over Washington, D.C., wasMcCain appears willing to send troops to Georgia.there is much more to the story than what NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN are telling us.the Russian-Georgian conflict is not America's greatest threat. Iran or North Korea is not America's greatest threat, either. In fact, I will categorically state that no foreign nation (although, of all foreign nations, Red China should undoubtedly be our biggest concern--and none of our national leaders seem the least bit concerned about it) is America's greatest threat. America's greatest threat comes from within. And I am not alone in that opinion. Daniel Webster warned, "There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence. I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." Both political parties, and the standard-bearers they select, are facilitating the surrender of our national sovereignty and independence. They are working in darkness to build an international community where the laws and principles of individual nation-states (including America's) are made subservient to the laws and principles of international entities.

John McCain supports the International Criminal Court. Can you believe this? Can you imagine U.S. citizens being hauled off before an international court to be tried for crimes? Imagine an international court whose rulings and opinions overrule U.S. rulings and opinions. Imagine a
court setting where the constitutional protections of the Bill of Rights are null and void. Imagine a court setting where international law trumps U.S. or state laws. If that is not a surrender of U.S. sovereignty, nothing is!
And John McCain is all for it.

Both John McCain and Barack Obama support NAFTA, the WTO, GATT, and the FTAA. Both major party candidates support the NAFTA superhighway, the creation of a North American Community (which is the precursor to a North American Union), the SPP, and the United Nations.

Ladies and Gentlemen, America is on the verge of losing its independence and its national sovereignty. And both major political parties (along with a compliant national media) are equally culpable. And mark this down: when America loses its independence and national sovereignty, we also lose our freedoms and liberties. Please remember that before a Constitution and Bill of Rights could be drafted, there was first drafted a Declaration of Independence. It is the Declaration of Independence that lays the cornerstone and builds the wall of protection around the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Lose the Declaration and we lose the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

No, the greatest threat to America does not come from Russia, Iraq, Iran, or any other foreign country. America's greatest threat comes from a complacent populace who would sit back and do nothing while our own civil magistrates surrender our nation's sovereignty and independence to international interests.

Think about it: 232 years after Thomas Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence, and after our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes,and sacred honor to defend that document, our nation's leaders from both major parties are in the process of ceding America back to the kind of global empire from which we fought to break free. This is America's greatest threat!

Over population could rightly be defined as an imbalance between the number of people and their food supply.

In the early years of America, before the white man brought horses to the Indian, which the Indian used to hunt buffalo, it was often reported that they would go through times of starvation even though there was only roughly 300,000 people even though they had all the Americas at their use.

Why Sarah Palin Inspires Us

To be honest, we’re impressed with Sarah Palin. She is a remarkably talented, well-spoken woman. She has many fine policies. And we like her practical, moose-hunting style of femininity. But it is not a day to rejoice when the best man in the room happens to be a woman — nor is it a cause for cheer when men can’t compete with women in doing their own job. During this year’s unprecedented election, the key players have been strong women and flaky men. This is a sign of judgment. The scenario is reminiscent of Gloria Steinem’s boast, “We are becoming the men we wanted to marry.” Men have been stepping into the background — women are trying to become the men they wish existed. We challenge any young woman to see this as a happy prospect. It’s hard to be inspired by the abdication of real men and the subsequent rise of pseudo-men.

Seeing women in leadership does not inspire men to be better leaders. We believe Sarah Palin’s example will not inspire men to be men — it will inspire them to make way for more Sarah Palins.

So how are strong women supposed to respond when men are not being men?

The example of the prophetess Deborah, though set in a time of more severe judgment than ours, gives interesting insights. She was living in a time when “the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord” (Judges 4:1), “Village life ceased” (Judges 5:7), and the leaders had not been leading (Judges 5:2). Despite the desperation of the time, Deborah clearly did not become a civil magistrate or “judge” in the modern sense of the word, nor did she run for any kind of office, nor did she sit in the gates (Judges 4:5). Even when pushed toward positions of leadership, Deborah never actually took the reins of authority, but rather extended them to Barak and stood supportively behind him (Judges 4:6, 4:14). Deborah succeeded in bringing a man into leadership, rather than take the leadership herself.

So why are we inspired by Sarah Palin? Because her example puts a stronger fire in us to answer the cry, the way we believe God intended. We are more inspired than ever to help our father, brothers, husbands and sons to fill the role we are not called to fill.

It has rightly been observed that women have already been elected to the highest position they can hold, and that any “promotion” in the civil sphere would be a step backward. Their womanly sphere is where this hurting nation needs them most.

As for us, we don’t aspire to become the presidents we wish we could vote for. We aspire to raise them.

Oscar Jr. remembers Grandpa, James Bailey, an enigma in the family.

He visited Grandpa in Texas with his parents and siblings.

Grandpa Bailey was engrossed with attending court trials in his spare time.

When Oscar Sr. got his first car, the dealer instructed him in how to drive.

As he was driving it home, his dad, James Bailey, bailed out as he crested the hill.

Oscar Sr. careened into a Mexican man who spoke no english.

They hauled the wounded man home and took care of him for a few weeks until he was well again.
