Doctrine over Person "Past historical events are retrospectively altered, wholly rewritten, or ignored to make them consistent with doctrinal logic.

Dispensed Existence "The group has an elitist world view — a sharp line is drawn by cult... Former members are seen as ... 'the enemy'."

Marks of a Destructive Cult

Mind Control Manipulation by the use of coercive persuasion or behavior modification...

Charismatic Leadership Claiming... special knowledge and demanding unquestioning obedience with power and privilege.

Deception

Exclusivity Secretiveness

Alienation Separation from family...a change in values and substitution of the cult as the "new family"

Exploitation Can be financial, physical, psychological; pressure...

Totalitarian World View known as the "we/they" syndrome, effecting dependence, promoting goals of the group over the individual and approving unethical behavior while claiming goodness.

Phobia Indoctrination is the programming of irrational fears of ever leaving the group, or even questioning the leadership's authority.
