"...in the Santa Barbara area, because of all the natural [oil] seeps that you have, when you produce oil you actually reduce the amount of oil on the beaches. You are reducing the pressure, and you are reducing the natural seeps. If you ask folks who have been there a long time, they’ll tell you, “Yes, before oil production the beaches were a lot oilier.”
