Bailey Family Reunion

Bailey Crest
History of the surname, Bailey
Dominos
Genny, Ruth, Mary June, Virginia, Alice Jean, Mother
Matthew 24 Examined
Use scripture to interpret scripture,
rather than modern day headlines.
Matthew 24:34 "This generation" always refers to the generation present,
never a future generation.
We must not follow an imposed system on the Word of God.
In Revelation those things which were coming
upon the church "near"-"shortly"-"quickly"-"at hand"
came upon them in that generation who put the Lord of Glory to death.
We can look forward to making the nations Christ's disciples
as stated in the Great Commission
Jesus is now at the Father's right hand,
waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. Hebrews 10:13

Ruth, Melody, Sharon

Family Tree Records
There is only one known Bailey descendant living.
Mother had ten sisters who lived to be adults, but only three brothers.
Ruth scanned many photos into her computer
which was stolen from her car at a motel in Stockton on Sat. night

Each meal was a feast.

Joe Crider & David

In 1958 Joe threw the winning touchdown in Colorado State's upset victory over Univ. of Colorado.

Joe played football quarterback for Colorado State,

And later the head coach at Antelope Valley HS in Lancaster.

More recently, when coaching golf, he coached around Tiger Woods.

Bar-b-que

David's pushups
He ran in the mornings with Regina and Jodavid
Dinah and I, her mom, were content to walk

Sweet great-grand-daughter, Julia, has seen Oscar, "just four times,

but she knows me!" he said

A story about true faith lived out in good works.

Mother gave a reading, "Potatoes."

and his wife Lynda

Jamey, Melody, Regina

Jamey is a nurse working in the maternity ward.

Jamey told us birth stories.

One woman was 35 having her first baby with no medication.

That husband was so sweet helping her, it made Jamey cry.

Jamey went to work early the next morning to see the records,

And was delighted to see the new mother and say, "You did really well!"

Bernarr has great stories

Brannan Island KOA
Helen shows Joe some memorable pictures.
Aunt Lillie's Identical Twins: Alice Jean from Indiana and Mary June from So. Ca.

Keith likes to remind us that there are more
churches in Las Vegas per capita than any other city.
Regina came back with yes, because there are so many wedding chapels there.

Oscar & Lynda of Las Vegas
They went to great lengths to gather family for this longest and greatest Bailey reunion.

Dinah talked with Elyce and her boyfriend, Martin, from Las Vegas

Elyce works in the doughnut business which her grandparents started.
carlsdoughnuts.com sells doughnuts to the casinos and 7-11
The batter mixer is as big as a cement mixer.
Elyce is studying criminology.
Martin is studying archeology.
Her grandmother was great Aunt Malissa who stayed with Dinah's grandma, Mary Stoops.
Elyce remembers coming there to visit her blind grandmother, Malissa Jenkins.
Grandma Stoops prepared a fine meal much of which was from her garden.

Oscar is full of great stories

The pool was perfect for the warm days.

Examining the photo just taken.
Katherine & Ed Layton of So. Ca.
Ed is a retired commercial building contractor.

Bernarr is Helen's favorite cousin.

He came out to visit when she was about 10.
When he left she told her mother, Fama, that
she was going to marry him when she grew up.
"Mom had to explain to me that things don't work that way."

These are some of the children of the cousins present.

to live near their son and daughter-in-law, Billy & Reba

Cousin Oscar Jr. interviewed by Regina
Oscar Jr. remembers Grandpa, James Bailey, an enigma in the family.
He visited Grandpa in Texas with his parents and siblings.
Grandpa Bailey was engrossed with attending court trials in his spare time.
When Oscar Sr. got his first car, the dealer instructed him in how to drive.
As he was driving it home, his dad, James Bailey, bailed out as he crested the hill.
Oscar Sr. careened into a Mexican man who spoke no english.
They hauled the wounded man home and took care of him for a few weeks until he was well again.

Mother & Dad's Wedding invitation

we found among many birth, marriage and funeral documents

which had belonged to Grandma Bailey

who passed away in 1974

Stoops & Seppi cousins saying "Good-bye"

Very encouraging to see a family taking such delight in spending time with extended family, enjoying the mix of generations and their history. The vast majority of families these days may give some spare time to occasional visiting with a few extended family members, but it seems you folks really make an effort to BE the large extended family you are. It is so heartening to see the younger ones digging in, getting to know the family members, stories, traditions, going back generations. I knew most of my cousins, aunts, uncles, etc, growing up, but in later life, everyone so busy with their own affairs, it just does not happen. We had a family reunion more than fifteen years ago, on Dad's side. Eighteen years later, only a dozen or so of his relatives (besides us, his kids) showed up at his funeral. What a treasure that your family still values family continuity.

Thanks Nick!
Did you meet our friend April Klocke from our church while you were in Central Calif. packing fruit for missions? It seems she is part of the same organization.
