Esther,
We are sorry to learn of the loss of your dear aunt. Did she remain in Kentucky all her life? Tim is from Waynesburg, Kentucky just 15 miles southwest of Crab Orchard and knows the area well. You may find this article entitled "The Travelling Church" interesting. http://www.geocities.com/baptist_documents/travel.church.html. It documents the account of the exodus of baptists from Virginia to Kentucky in 1781 due to persecution for not being "licensed" by the Church of England. The church settled just a little north of Crab Orchard and eventually disbursed out. Singletons are named in the footnotes as being amongst the travellers. Though there is no mention of Stoops or Osbornes, we thought you might find the history interesting.
God Bless you all,
Donna Singleton
Hi Donna!
Yes the history is good to know.
Aunt Odella and Uncle Wesley lived in Kankakee, Illinois.
It is good to hear from you!
Love,
Esther
