Dinah took notes from James Nickel at the
2002 West Coast Worldview Conference.
James Nichols said, “I’m going to give you a ride through history that will beat any ride in Six Flags.” And he did! Here’s a sample of Dinah’s notes:
The puritans believed that vocational callings outside the ecclesiastical concerns were equally high of a calling. The monks believed that what they were doing was the highest calling, what another not in the monastery was not as high of a calling.
Hospitals are a Christian invention. Hospital comes from hospitality. The scripture commands us to be hospitable to strangers. That formed the foundation for Christians, throughout the ages to take care of their needs both physically and spiritually.
Scientist, Johannes Keppler wrote psalms of praise to God between doing mathematical equations. He saw that his mathematics was describing the harmony of the universe and that harmony reflected the glory of God, the creator of all things.
Chemist, Robert Boyle, famous for the gas laws, in his last will and testament said,” We wish the Royal society a happy success in their laudable attempts to discover the nature of the works of God in prayer that they and all other searchers in the physical truths may cordially refer their attainments to the glory of The Great Author of nature and to the comfort of mankind.”
