Pastor Campbell preached on Luke 24: Rome could not hold back the Resurrection.

The Jews came to Pilate saying, "Now that deceiver said that he would die and rise again on the third day. His disciples will steal away the body and say He has risen from the dead. Now the last deception will be worse than the first."

Pilate told them, "You have a guard, go and make it as secure as you know how." The Jews set a guard of 16 men, setting a Roman seal on the mouth of the tomb.

The third day an Angel came, rolled back the stone breaking the seal. Jesus the Christ rose from the dead. The guards “shook and became like dead men.” The penalty for breaking a Roman seal is death, and only a person designated by Rome could legally break the seal.

Who appointed the angel? God did. He commands kings to “Kiss the Son.” Psalm 2 And he laughs at their plots to break His law.

Render to Caesar the things which are Caesar’s and to God the things which are God’s. God “broke” man’s law. Man proposes God disposes.
