Hyperbaric Chamber
We recommend that you add a battery operated fan
to keep you from feeling claustrophobic or
swallow as the pressure increased.
Victor is our navigator in all things mechanical.
Victor opens his mouth wide and lets his ears pop
during the pressurizing time going up or
depressurizing time coming down.
depressurizing time coming down.
Dinah is our first to reach maximum pressure.
A well hydrated person gets greater benefit.
Dinah felt very peaceful
and wanted to read
but had forgotten to bring a book.
We all enjoy the calm at maximum pressure.
Our first day using the hyperbaric oxygen chamber went well.
Dinah, David & Victor lasted about two hours
and are pleased with the benefits.
Victor delighted in great physical prowess.
David pleased with his clear mind of
ideas and plans and a sense of well-being.

You guys are into everything! LOL! Dinah, you are such a pioneer! So would you make a long space trip after experiencing "The Chamber"? I've always wanted to try one of those sensory deprivation chambers... I'll bet you could get some good praying done there. Thanks for sharing your adventures :-)
Hey neat guys!! I love the new header pic, font style and quote on your blog, too!! So tell us more about the chamber. .. where did you get it?
Dr. Saft advertises on eBay. He sells new and used residential and professional use chambers.
I imagine it takes awhile to decompress. Any danger of getting the bends? You can get them when coming up from a dive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decompression_sickness

Did you buy your own hyperbaric chamber?
So are you all doing this because the valley air is so poor?
Jed, the hyperbaric chamber is therapy for divers. Yes Ken, we bought it. Ralph, Regina has been pressing us to get one for many years. We were hesitant because of the cost. It is used for a myriad of health issues: infections, broken bones, autism, wounds, cancer, ms, stroke, traumatic brain injury, mitochondrial disorders, rheumatoid arthritis...
I've wanted one for a while too. Can you give details? Make, model, how high does it go? Oxygen only, or atmospheric gas?
Thanks! I've heard good things about this.
Ken, It's a 28" "Summit to Sea" residential model that pressurizes to 4 + psi. Right now it's just pressurized air, but an oxygen concentrator can be added. Here is one identical to ours: http://cgi.ebay.com/28-Portable-Hyperbaric-Chamber-Brand-New-/200619046432?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb5d3b620#ht_2204wt_699
You can ask to be notified when used models come in and bargain for a better price. http://www.Hyperbaric-Oxygen-CA.com/index.htm

That is a low pressure model. There is no danger of getting the bends from using it. You could sleep in there all night and be fine.
Does it get noticeably warmer than the room temperature? Compressing air heats it up a little.
Not bad, but the weather is mild right now.
I've heard good things about Dr. Wright and oxygen therapy. This is cheaper than hyperbaric work, but I just send this along for your consideration.
So jealous! years ago only Michael Jackson owned one of these things. ;-) seriously, though, i think this is great. they recreate the pre-flood world in many ways.
Wow. I have a friend with ALS (with only1 1/2 yrs) would something like this be recommended/help?
Anais, more oxygen helps heal just about anything. It is used for cancer and recovery. You might google hyperbaric in your area. There are clinics where they can pay per use. Another option is to rent one, or buy and resell when you are done.
Also, it's good to find out if ALS patients are benefited most with the low pressure (home) model or the medical grade unit.
I spent a LONG time in HBOT down at the Whitaker Clinic in Newport . It is not cheap . My doctor was telling me it was going to do wonderful things for my immune system in helping with the massive viral and bacterial l infections I was fighting. I really didn't feel any different and my infections didn't really start getting under control until I went to a chiropractor who uses kinesiology and energy therapy among other things. I can see how it would be helpful for stroke victims (if you get them in right away) and wound healing. I've read lots of literature on it, but for my case it just wasn't the grand success it was supposed to be.
It doesn't fix all your problems in a few times. That is why people buy them for home use. And there are risks: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1464149-overview
Six days a week 1 and 1/2 or 2 hours daily for three months for a serious condition is a common recommendation. I don't think a professional model with greater pressure would be as safe.
I was there 3x/week for several months for hour+ long sessions. And it does mess with your ears... I couldn't go swimming at any depth (not even a foot down..) for ages afterwards (I still don't think I can) without my ears hurting like crazy from the pressure. I didn't have that problem before. I'm not saying it doesn't work , just for my situation (and it was prescribed by a doctor) I didn't notice any grand results.
You really need an oxygen source with this to get any benefits.
Merryrose, you were obviously in a professional chamber. That is a lot more intense. We've heard they're only helpful if a patient is well hydrated. Hope you get better soon!
Merryrose, Dr. Saft says the ear problem is directly related to the rate of compression (controlled by the operator on the outside) and the ability to pop your ears by yawning or holding your nose and blowing with a closed mouth may be more effective than swallowing.
