I couldn't find a contact email address so I will try to get my message across through this comments section. I'm a pest control advisor/certified crop advisor and work in agriculture and also run a blog at FarmCrunch.com. I just finished watching the documentary, Colony, and felt compelled to inform you something about almond economics. You may be aware of this already, but almond groves are one of the most lucrative crops in agriculture. They are not as lucrative as pistachios but in 2010 almond growers in California averaged a net return of about $2,075 per acre. I present this information to you because the documentary is not only about honey bee collapse, but it also displays the hardships of starting a agriculture business. I sympathize with your situation because I know how hard it is to get a business up and running and I hope after a year you guys are getting a fair price for your bee services. Since the film was made, agriculture products have bounced back and most growers are doing very well. I work with farmers everyday and I know how they can project this idea of just "barely making it" but in reality there doing quite well. At $2,000 per acre, they can afford to pay you a fair price for your bees so that you and your family can continue running a productive and viable business. The bride was a princess, the favorite daughter of the warrior chieftain, “Powhatan.”

The groom, a young widower and farmer, had recently landed in Virginia.

John Rolfe, along with the governor, discipled Pocahontas, read to her from the Bible, and taught her to read and memorize scripture. She professed faith in Christ and was baptized, renouncing her former paganism – a demonic worship that included child sacrifice.

Their wedding, blessed by her father, brought peace between the settlers and Indians, called “the Peace of Pocahontas.”

Both bride and groom were used by God to establish a colony based on Christianity. Virginia Governor, John Smith, said that, “God made Pocahontas” and credited her with saving the settlement. “[S]he next, under God, was still the instrument to preserve this colony from death, famine and utter confusion.”

John Rolfe would save the colony economically by developing the major cash crop, tobacco. Through difficulty starting a new colony he refused to be discouraged calling Virginia the new “promised land” and wrote that like Caleb and Joshua, he would stand for the Lord’s cause, bringing a good report. Rolfe served as one of the first representatives in the House of Burgess – a system based on the Hebrew practice of representative elders.

Theirs is one of America’s first Christian weddings and our first recorded “interracial” marriage. John Rolfe wrote a passionate, Biblically reasoned appeal to the governor, asking permission to marry the Indian princess on the basis of her conversion to Christianity. He wrote in 1614 that their union would be, “for the good of this plantation, for the honor of our country, for the glory of God.” John Rolfe then journeyed to visit her father and received the Powhatan’s blessing. The Rolfe’s example of marriage based on their unity of faith, regardless of ethnic origin, stood as legal precedent for over 50 years.
