John J. Dwyer

A UCLA professor called War Between the States, America's Uncivil War, the best high school and college text book on the subject ever written. Every family should have one. The author is also a great speaker.

Dwyer was once rated the 20th best high school basketball player in America, also a seminary graduate.

“I detest anything with a whiff of socialism or fascism, whether it be the welfare state or the warfare state, big-government Democrats or Republicans or Libertarians. So I do not give a hooting heck what Bill Kristol or Ann Coulter or Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or Dick Cheney or their vicious imitators would call me or any of my opinions...

For my good friends, I must tell you that there is an impostor among us in this day. It presents itself as a lovely and inspiring and even holy thing, but it is actually a pretender, an idol, a damnable heresy. It seeks to swell our hearts with pride and sentiment and certitude, but in the end it demands the right to anything of meaning we possess in this world – our property, our lives, the lives of our children, our faithfulness to the teachings of the gentle and humble Savior who is the Redeemer of our souls and the Captain of our salvation.” ~John J. Dwyer

Wow! That is awesome! I went to the first link and read more as well. He certainly says the truth in no uncertain terms, and does an excellent job!!! Hit the nail right on the head.

Unfortunately, this nationalistic idea has been promoted, nearly unopposed, for so many years, that it is incredibly difficult to openly and blatantly say these types of truths without deeply hurting so many who have given so much for their country. I am thinking mostly of so many WWII and Vietnam vets, and their wives, in my family who love the Lord with all their hearts, but who also would take deep offense at such words as these.

We have so much work to do in this nation. May God grant wisdom and grace!!!

Thanks again for posting this!!!!!
