Immediate Action Required: Stop Indefinite Detention of U.S. Citizens Without Due Process

Immediate action required!

"Deep inside the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1867) that the Senate is currently considering is a dangerous and unconstitutional portion that needs to be stripped out. Congress would grant the President the power to use the military in order to detain certain individuals, including American citizens, without trial or due process, indefinitely.

Section 1031 of the National Defense Authorization Act reads: “Congress affirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force … includes the authority for the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons…. [including] [d]etention under the law of war without trial....” This “indefinite detention” section hands over to the Executive Branch the power to have the military arrest U.S. citizens. No trial needed. Simple suspicion would suffice.

This could be quite reminiscent of Stalinist Russia where a knock on the door in the middle of the night meant that the person taken by the military was often never seen again, perhaps having been imprisoned in Siberia or executed. The Japanese American Citizens League has warned that this measure’s detention principles are similar to the ones that sent innocent Japanese-Americans into concentration camps during WW II..."

Please take a quick moment to contact your representative regarding this legislation.

Why is George Soros selling gold and buying farmland?

"During those years after WWII, if you wanted to rent an apartment, buy a house or find a place to live, cash was worthless and even GOLD wasn't considered very useful. The only thing that represented real wealth was FOOD. If you had food, you could trade it for anything: an automobile, a home, tools, clothing or even land. If you didn't have food, you were bankrupt; regardless of how much cash or gold you had."

Is an animal guilty of murder?

Sea World trainer, Dawn Brancheau, was drowned to death Wednesday by Tilikum, Orlando's star killer whale. The trainer's death took place in front of horrified spectators at the afternoon show.

But "...according to SeaWorld President and CEO, Jim Atchison, no animal is ever punished at SeaWorld and Tilikum is no exception."
http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/tech-mainmenu-30/environment/3029-seaworlds-response-to-the-tragedy

In response to a law suit from Brancheau's family, SeaWorld states that trainers know the risks of working with these animals. Even though Tilikum was involved in killing two other people in 1991 and 1999.

"SeaWorld," says the article, "has decided to keep Tilikum, but remains unsure as to whether Tilikum will perform again."

The scripture has a different ethic:

Ex 21:28 "If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, then the ox shall surely be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be acquitted.

Ex 21:29 "But if the ox tended to thrust with its horn in times past, and it has been made known to his owner, and he has not kept it confined, so that it has killed a man or a woman, the ox shall be stoned and its owner also shall be put to death.

At the very least, Tilikum should be killed and SeaWorld liable for allowing/assigning a trainer to a known man killer.
Using the principles of God's law would be a mercy, a kindness to future trainers.

Common antibiotics tied to birth defects

Study: Drugs to treat urinary infections could cause heart, brain problems
updated 1:06 p.m. PT, Mon., Nov . 2, 2009

CHICAGO - Researchers studying antibiotics in pregnancy have found a surprising link between common drugs used to treat urinary infections with birth defects. Reassuringly, the most-used antibiotics in early pregnancy — penicillins — appear to be the safest.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33588427/ns/health-pregnancy/

This article reminded me of when someone close to us had a bladder infection while pregnant. She used raw garlic and recovered. (For a infection like that I would use 5-10 cloves at a time.) She was dizzy and sick, I think with a flu, but with plenty of water, the garlic and rest she got better. While antibiotics are useful and lifesaving in the right context, it's helpful to know a remedy that is close by, inexpensive and safe, especially for pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Chicken Little and the Swine Flu Scare by Dr. John Burns

I can’t remember if it was Henny Penny or Chicken Little, nor do I recall what landed on said fowl’s head, either a leaf or an acorn, but I do remember that there was an ensuing panic as the hen in question ran around the barnyard yelling, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”

Following the news of the “swine flu” since April, one gets the feeling that that old mantra, “The sky is falling,” is back. While the swine flu scare is the latest in a string of panics about possible pandemics, (think West Nile, SARS, the Bird Flu, etc.), none have been hyped with such consistency and ferocity. Perusing Google News almost daily, I have yet to see a day when they didn’t have swine flu as a front page story. The story broke in April and the reports from Mexico were frightening — some media outlets reported hundreds dead, many others reported scores dead “with possibly many more.” By the time the first U.S. death occurred (a Mexican girl who had been brought to the United States for treatment), the WHO was reporting only six deaths, with the little girl being number seven. While every death is a tragedy, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this flu was being hyped up.

Planned Parenthood shuts doors on 7 clinics

Seventy-two years ago Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger visited El Paso, Texas, delivered a speech proclaiming the need for the acceptance of birth control and helped found the city's first family planning clinic.

But last week, Analinda Moreno, Planned Parenthood of El Paso's interim executive director, announced all seven of the organization's clinics in the El Paso area would permanently close today. She cited financial reasons.

"There were many factors that came into the decision," Moreno told the El Paso Times. "We knew eight days ago that there was just absolutely no other way other than to close." ...

Liberated and Unhappy -- New York Times on Feminist Victories and a Generation of Unhappy Women

From the New York Times:

American women are wealthier, healthier and better educated than they were 30 years ago. They’re more likely to work outside the home, and more likely to earn salaries comparable to men’s when they do. They can leave abusive marriages and sue sexist employers. They enjoy unprecedented control over their own fertility. On some fronts — graduation rates, life expectancy and even job security — men look increasingly like the second sex

But all the achievements of the feminist era may have delivered women to greater unhappiness. In the 1960s, when Betty Friedan diagnosed her fellow wives and daughters as the victims of “the problem with no name,” American women reported themselves happier, on average, than did men. Today, that gender gap has reversed. Male happiness has inched up, and female happiness has dropped. In postfeminist America, men are happier than women.

EU Bans Use of 'Miss' and 'Mrs' (and Sportsmen and Statesmen) Because It Claims They Are Sexist

Using 'Miss' and 'Mrs' has been banned by leaders of the European Union because they are not considered politically correct.

Brussels bureaucrats have decided the words are sexist and issued new guidelines in its bid to create 'gender-neutral' language.

The booklet warns European politicians they must avoid referring to a woman's marital status.

This also means Madame and Mademoiselle, Frau and Fraulein and Senora and Senorita are banned.

Instead of using the standard titles, it is asking MEPs to address women by their names.

And the rules have not stopped there – they also ban MEPs saying sportsmen and statesmen, advising athletes and political leaders should be used instead.

Melody, who is reading Otto Scott’s Robespierre, said “This is the French Revolution all over again!” The Revolution outlawed royalty titles and eventually gender titles, calling everyone “citizen.”

This is because gender roles are vital to civilization. Whenever civilizations decay gender roles are confused, marriage is dishonored, infanticide becomes wide spread and sodomy is common. This happened in Greece, in Rome, and many times in Iseral when they turned away from God.

This is why one of the most counter revolutionary acts possible is for Christian women to simply love being Christian women.

What could be more challanging? Or more rewarding?

After all, the first time I saw “Ms.” on a wedding invitation, they ended up divorced.

Environment minister Sammy Wilson: I still think man-made climate change is a con

Spending billions on trying to reduce carbon emissions is one giant con that is depriving third world countries of vital funds to tackle famine, HIV and other diseases, Sammy Wilson said.

The DUP minister has been heavily criticised by environmentalists for claiming that ongoing climatic shifts are down to nature and not mankind.

But while acknowledging his views on global warming may not be popular, the East Antrim MP said he was not prepared to be bullied by eco fundamentalists.

“I’ll not be stopped saying what I believe needs to be said about climate change,” he said.

"Most of the people who shout about climate change have not read one article about it...
