Naomi Katherine (Bailey) Adams
As a baby, Naomi nearly died of "milk sickness" an allergy to cow's milk, which had taken two of her siblings in infancy. At ten months old she was only 10 lbs. Her mother, Mary Bailey, took Naomi forward at a Holiness meeting led by a woman evangelist, who prayed for her. She began to thrive. Naomi was always "interested in boys." She married 38-year-old Charlie Adams in 1935, just after turning 18. Charlie died in 1959. Naomi had one step-son, Franklin, and four of her own: Ira, Virginia Ann and twins Valter and Flora.
Naomi worked as a tailor for Montgomery Wards from 1949 to 1985.
She served as children's leader and church board member in Alhambra many years.
Naomi wrote Christmas Letters to friends and family the past few years, and recently spent Sundays with her sister, Mary. The Bailey sisters have always been close. Only four of the original 11 adult sisters remain: Virginia Bailey-now in Victorville, Madge Weise-in Carlsbad NM, Mary Stoops-in Visalia and Ruth Crary-from Goshen CA now in Hillsborough OR.
Aunt Naomi passed away at age 90 on May 14, 2008 in her apartment in Visalia. She had spent the morning working for the Gleaners, getting food to senior citizens, and planning to leave that day with her son-in-law for an Adams family reunion in Texas. When Bill came to pick her up, he found her, deceased. Naomi's daughters are gathering from California and son, Valter from New Mexico.
