Dad Serves Breakfast: Chocolate Cake (eggs, milk, wheat) ~ and grapefruit juice?

Why is it that the kids sing praises of their Dad

while Mom gets the attack?

Mom is always trying to make things better...

clean children, brushed hair, good nutrition.

Dad is easy.

He doesn't mind if the children get covered with mud

while he is digging the post hole.

Kids need both parents for balance.

This one makes us roar with laughter.

This makes me think of when I was growing up, Saturdays were always Dad's day at home (he worked long hours during the week, lengthened by 90 minutes plus on the LA freeways). He would delight to let Mom sleep in, and HE would fix our breakfast.. pancakes, waffles, sausage, eggs, toast, orange juice, the whole bit, telling us stories of his own growing up the whole time. We LOVED Saturdays the best!! Special times. Funny, too, Mom never worried about us kids getting dirty. She loved that we were eager to get out and play hard, and never doubted it would all wash off eventually. Happy and healthy were valued far above neat and clean, although she was certainly keen to see to the neat and clean when that was appropriate. We certainly would "catch it", though, if we were ever caught with our "good clothes" on for serious play. A good, and practical, balance there.
