“To love Christ is to love life. Life is full of the unexpected (including guests) and the untidy. Too many people want showcase living in showcase houses, where everything is hostile to life and to children. To be truly against abortion is to love life and children, and children mean dirty diapers and messy rooms, toys strewn about and more..."

So true... so often when I pop round for a visit, I hear profuse apoligies that the "place is such a mess". I reassure them "no worries, I'm used to that". Then I delight in things like dozens of plastic army men strewn amongst the remains of a block city, piles of dolls and stuffed horses next the davenport in the livingroom, the chicken scraps overflowing the container on the counter in the kitchen, mud-caked boots tossed aside just in the door, and marvel that this is a home bursting with LIFE.
In the always-cluttered bathroom of one home I love much, there is a plaque on the wall where Mum recounts the chores left undone in favour of her time with her children. And after all, isn't that what "home" is on about? And her children certainly ARE a delight. Yes, even their new five-month old, who already recognises me and greets me with a piercing look and a big grin.
