iPod, J. Steven Wilkins

One of the greatest inventions of the last ten years is the iPod. On this we can listen to hundreds of lectures from wise men. You can be busy working while learning from wise men.

Right now I am enjoying Steve Wilkins 32 lectures on America, The First 350 Years: From the foundation of our country for the advancement of the Christian Faith to understanding that the gospel impacts all areas of life. It was actually a fulfillment of the Great Commission to make the nations Christ's disciples. Both the people behind coming to Jamestown and Plymouth: when they spoke of religions they were referring to different denominations. If they were not faithful to create a commonwealth, God would destroy them.

We have a great reformed heritage which shows the effect of Calvinism on our nation. Calvinism is the reformed faith, the idea that man is depraved and apart from the mercy of God, he is a terror. It was the pastors of our land that stood against the tyranny of King George and the Parliament which was quartering troop setting yup tribunals who sent soldiers to rummage through your belongings to make sure you had a stamp to show it was Okayed by England. It was the black robed preachers aflame with righteousness that the Bible speaks to all areas of life. The prime minister of England said Cousin America has run off with the Presbyterian parson: It was the Presbyterian pastors who have taught the people what godly authority is. John Calvin said that a magistrate that does not obey scripture; if he gives a command against God's word, it is no law at all. The king of England wanted to be over the law. What does Jesus mean when He said My Kingdom is not of this world? Jesus does not derive His authority from this world. We must rule as godly magistrates.
